The Foundation for Educational Services (FES) in collaboration with the Institute for Education (IFE) is organising Professional Development sessions for Playworkers. These sessions will lead to part-time employment as Playworkers within the Klabb 3-16 and Skolasajf Centres of the FES.  

If you like working with children, have already some experience with working with children, or a parent with some time on your hands, then this may be the course for you. This course is ideal for those who do not have  formal qualification in this sector and will allow you to apply for the post of playworker with FES. 

Candidates might be called for an interview before starting the course to assess their suitability.  After the successful termination of the course, candidates will than be eligible to apply for the post of playworker. 

The course consists of:

  • An introductory session on FES and its services
  • A ten-day (40 hours) Job shadowing placement in a FES Klabb 3-16 (attendees will be paid for such placement upon signing the contract of employment)
  • Six lectures of 2 hours each:
    • Lecture 1 - Dealing with Challenging Behaviour and Disabilities
    • Lecture 2 - Communication and Teamwork
    • Lecture 3 -Classroom Management
    • Lecture 4 - Activity Design, Implementation & Evaluation
    • Lecture 5 - Diversity and Inclusion
  • First Aid Course
  • Evaluation of Lectures including Practice Placement – 2 hours each lecture.

 The sessions will be held online on Microsoft Teams.

 

 Eligibility Criteria:

  • School leaving certificate
  • Reference letter
  • CV

  • First Aid Certificate or a letter confirming interest to attend a First Aid Course.
  • Be 17 and over
